Serving Victims of Crime and Crisis for Coconino County |
|
Victim/Witness Services has excellent volunteer opportunities for those looking to make a positive impact our community.
Volunteers can be members of a “Crisis Response Team” helping Victim/Witness Services to offer 24-hour advocacy and crisis intervention services for victims of crime.
Volunteers may also choose to work as in-office support advocates. These volunteers work during office hours to assist with courtroom advocacy, emergency legal advocacy, fundraising, and general in-office support.
Training for volunteers consists of a 20 hour training for crisis call responders and a 10 hour training for in-office volunteers as well as ongoing training throughout your time here. Volunteers must submit the completed application with personal references. The screening includes fingerprint clearance (at no cost to you) as well as personal interviews.
The volunteer experience is great for students and/or community members interested in a career in counseling, social work, criminal justice or law. Anyone will benefit from learning the skills to help others cope and overcome victimization.
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer please contact Jennifer Nichols at (928) 779-6163.
